Trish Deseine

Biography

Trish Deseine was born in Belfast, living and working in France since 1987 where she freely developed her passion for cooking. Trish Deseine is a bestselling author in France, and has written nine food books in French, all published by leading French illustrated book publisher Marabout (Hachette). Trish's French titles have been published in twelve languages including English (published by Hachette Illustrated in the U.K.). Her first book Petits Plats Entre Amis won the 2001 Laduree and Seb prizes and brought a new trend in simple, unfussy cooking and styling to French cook books. Je Veux du Chocolat (2002) won a World Gourmand Award and has to date sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. Mes Petits Plats Preferes (2002) won the French Gourmand Award. Cooking for Kids won the 2004 Hediard prize and saw her described in Elle as a "phenomene editoriale". Trish Deseine's follow-up to Je Veux du Chocolat, Du Caramel Plein la Bouche, was hailed by Paris Match as a "hymn to gluttony". With her Petite Robe Noir (2006), Trish Deseine became the first non-French author to win France's most prestigious cookery prize, the Prix La Mazille at the Perigueux Cookbook Festival. Ma Petite Robe Noir also won Best French Cookbook and a Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Gourmand Awards. She is also a regular contributor to French food pages. Nobody Does it Better, which asserts the continuing preeminence of French cuisine, was published by Kyle Cathie in 2007, and Trish's French Country Kitchen will be published by Kyle Cathie in 2008. Trish Deseine's TV food series Trish's Paris Kitchen was broadcast prime time by RTE, the Irish national broadcaster. It achieved both excellent ratings and very positive reviews from both critics and audiences, and a second series has now been commissioned.
