Noah Charney

Biography

Noah Charney studied Art History at The Courtauld Institute and Cambridge. While studying for his PhD, he wrote his first novel, The Art Thief (Atria 2007, Simon & Schuster 2008), which became an international bestseller. He founded the international think tank on issues in art crime called ARCA, the Association for Research into Crimes against Art, and has worked with the FBI, Scotland Yard, the Dutch Police, the Carabinieri, and many museums, on how the study of art crime can help contemporary law enforcement and art protection. He lectures around the world on the subjects of both art history and art crime. Recent appearances include lectures at Yale and Cambridge universities, Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum, and Spain's National Library, and he is currently a visiting research fellow at Yale.
