Mel Billowes

Biography

Mel Billowes is a writer and journalist with extensive experience in television broadcasting as an on-screen reporter, producer and programme executive. Now a freelance writer, she is involved in diverse projects that reflect her wide range of interests.

Mel graduated with honours from York University where she studied English and Related Literature, pursuing a special interest in the lives and works of the Shelley-Byron circle. History, drama and literature have remained a lifelong fascination, and this is reflected in her creative work. Her historical thriller Bluestocking, is set in the London of 1814, where the violence, radicalism and energy inherent in the Regency period are tightly interwoven with its celebrated glamour and social mores.

As a ghost writer, Mel recently collaborated with Apprentice winner Michelle Dewberry on Michelle's autobiography Anything is Possible, published by Orion in 2007.
