Ellie Levenson

Ellie Levenson is a freelance journalist and has written columns and features for publications including The Guardian, The Independent, The Times, Daily Express, Financial Times, TES, Cosmopolitan, Mother & Baby and Easy Living. She writes about many things but particularly specialises in making political issues accessible to a wider audience.

Her first book, The Noughtie Girl's Guide to Feminism, was published by Oneworld in 2009 and received considerably coverage including an extract in the Mail on Sunday's You Magazine and several column inches about its arguments in the broadsheet newspapers including a feature in The Times hailing Ellie as a feminist icon alongside Michelle Obama and Nigella Lawson! Ellie's second book, Fifty Campaigns to Shout About, was published by Oneworld in 2011.

She was editor of Fabian Review at the age of 24, and was co-editor and author of a chapter in Fabian Thinkers: 120 Years of Progressive Thought (London: Fabian Society, 2004). In 2001 she won the Netjetters competition in The Guardian and was given a round the world trip and weekly column for four months (http://travel.guardian.co.uk/netjetters/ellie). Her winning entry promised that she would eat a kebab and have sex in every country she visited. Unfortunately she failed to do this, but after describing New Zealand as beautiful but "essentially the dullest place on earth", did manage to become "New Zealand's public enemy number one", according to the front page of a New Zealand newspaper.

Ellie has considerable broadcast experience on television and radio. Appearances include Sky Sunrise, BBC Breakfast, The Boulton Factor, Big Brother's Little Brother, The Moral Maze, Steve Wright in the afternoon and Woman's Hour.
