The City Of Jewels

The City of Jewels is the first in a fantasy adventure series for children aged 9-11, set in Medieval India. Sharat is the tiger boy in a travelling circus. When they arrive at the City of Jewels, the troupe must play for the Emperor, his entourage and their frightening leader Doctor Rookh. On the opening night, strange things start to happen, and Sharat's amazing white tiger disappears. He goes on a quest to find her that takes him through the city's sewers, into a magical garden, through crystal caves and deep dungeons. On the way, with his friend Aya - a sewer baby whose mother was a princess killed by Doctor Rookh - Sharat discovers the terrible secret of the Empire and the truth about his destiny.
